Timothy Dutton was called to the Bar in 1979 and appointed QC in 1998. He has for over 30 years been involved in legal education and training alongside his practice in commercial and regulatory law. In 1994 he founded and for the next 10 years directed the Keble College Advanced Advocacy Course, and has led numerous advocacy teaching projects around the world. He was Chairman of the Bar Council in 2008; Head of Fountain Court Chambers 2008 – 2013; Chairman of the Association of Regulatory and Disciplinary Lawyers 2009 – 2015. In December 2015 he was appointed CBE for services to the United Kingdom legal system. He is a Deputy High Court Judge, and a bencher of Middle Temple. In 2014 he founded the Bar Choral Society of which he remains a trustee.
