Isata leads the Access to Justice Project at the Bevan Foundation, using policy work and influencing to improve migration justice in Wales.
Previously, she worked as a freelance project manager, and as an independent investigator of statutory complaints against Birmingham City Council Social Services. From 2002-2014, Isata co-ordinated the Celebrating Sanctuary Birmingham schools and public festivals for Refugee Week. She has delivered many projects for communities, charities, and local authorities, most focusing on migration or children’s rights and participation. She has served as trustee and been a development officer for charities working under both OISC and legal aid. She is a lay member of the Welsh Language Tribunal.
Isata’s commitment to migration justice was prompted by her experience of migration and the effects on her family of the ten-year civil war in Sierra Leone.
